Seeing what visitors really do in a decor shop
waysens sells home decor and jewellery through its own Shopify shop and on a marketplace. Decor is almost always bought on impulse, out of a mood. So we relied on real behaviour and based every decision on observation.
I'll show you where your shop loses buyers.
Understanding and amplifying impulse buys
People buy a decor piece in the moment. Visitors browse, get inspired and decide on a whim. Classic assumptions about buying journeys hardly apply here, because often there is no planned route at all. Decor is often an add-on purchase, triggered by an image or a mood. If you know these moments, you can amplify them on purpose.
That is why observation pays off twice. Every decision based on real behaviour steers ad budget in the right direction. Then there is the parallel marketplace channel, and the advertising should suit both. The two channels complement each other when the ads tell the same story for both. So campaigns and shop are best judged together.
Recordings as an ongoing foundation
We set up recordings of real visits on the shop. From them grew ongoing reporting that regularly feeds the work on the shop with new observations. That matters, because with impulse buys behaviour changes with season and range. From the observations we derived hypotheses based on real behaviour. Every measure stays close to how people actually buy.
We included the ad account and page in the analysis, as well as the pixel and product catalogue. That way campaign and shop can be judged together, and we see whether visitors from an ad find in the shop what they expect. Anyone arriving from an ad should find the same mood there. That applies especially to the product catalogue that feeds the ads. The ad creatives were made together with a designer.
Look before you rebuild
With ranges people buy for pleasure, we consider observation the most reliable foundation. Recordings of real visits show where people browse and where they leave. Turn them into ongoing reporting and you spot changes early, for example when new campaigns bring different visitors. Evaluate ads and shop together and you put budget where it works. It sounds unspectacular, and it brings exactly the clarity a decor shop needs to plan its next steps with confidence.
