From wanting to feel safe to the right system
ABUS Security-Center is the alarm systems and video surveillance division of the family business ABUS, which also covers access control. People searching here usually have a specific reason and want to feel safer. We arranged the route that turns that wish into a clear product choice.
I'll show you where your shop loses buyers.
An emotional trigger, a technical product
People buy security technology with a goal in mind. A break-in nearby or a new house: the trigger is emotional, the product technically demanding. Between the two is a gap the shop can close. Most prospects start out knowing their goal, to feel safer, and need it translated into components before they compare.
With system products, compatibility comes on top. Does the camera work with the control unit, the sensor with the existing system? The buying decision hangs on questions like these. And there are two audiences with very different knowledge: trade buyers, who know exactly what they want, and consumers, who want guidance first. Serving both well on one site is a worthwhile task.
Technical depth in the right place
We looked at the whole route, from the first need for security to the concrete product choice. At every stage the question is whether technical depth helps the prospect on or holds them up. The lever is the order in which information appears. Trade buyers need datasheets and specs straight away. Consumers at the start of their search get them at the moment they help them move forward.
We treated compatibility as a topic of its own in the buying process. With system products it must be clear early what works together, so the decision gains momentum exactly where it is almost made. For trade buyers and consumers we reviewed separate entry points that work side by side on the same page. A trade buyer jumps straight to the specs, a consumer first recognises their own situation. Both reach their goal by their own route.
The situation first, then the datasheet
With technology that needs explaining, we always start by asking what situation someone is searching from. Product data comes after. That matters most when professionals and consumers use the same site. Both should feel quickly that their entry point is meant for them. The question of what works together should be answered as early as possible, because with system products that answer gives the final push. Place it prominently and an almost-made decision becomes a purchase.
